TARA PRIYA is a retro pop/soul singer-songwriter born & raised in San
Francisco. Of Indian-Persian parentage, Taracombines vintage soul, poetic
lyrics, & a dash of pop to provide relief from today’s Auto-Tune avalanche.
Piano and poetry began at 4, drums at 9; opera training commenced at 11,
jazz voice added in high school. After winning two prestigious writing
scholarships, Tara switched coasts to attend Columbia University, where she
sped through school and graduated in 2.5 years with her BA in Economics. She
returned to California to write her November 2010 eponymous EP. In the past
year, she has been named  1 of 3 "Pop" finalists in the John Lennon
Songwriting Contest, one of The Deli Magazine's Top 10 "Best Emerging
Artists of 2010", and the winner of 2011's Great American Song Contest, the
Dallas Songwriters Contest, and the 18th Annual Billboard Song Contest. Tara
 is thrilled to have just had the #2 bestselling "Contemporary R&B" album
in Japan!
